Pros & Cons

  • The opportunity for career development, experience in different countries, a variety of projects and teams. It is also an ambitious company in climate action, which makes you proud to work for them.
  • We get the opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects that shape Australia's key infrastructure and work with a huge range of people across different disciplines. I love that no day is the same and you never find yourself feeling bored, because there's always a new challenge or an opportunity to take on and learn something new if you're looking for it. Homing in on my experience as an Acciona graduate over the last two years, I have found the networking and team-building activities within the wider graduate group to be the most rewarding. Events like the Graduate Bootcamp and the Comillas University accreditation have allowed me to meet graduates from all over Australia, making connections and friendships that will last throughout my career. I also liked that we had Comillas professors guiding us through our business case and Daniel provided us with very helpful feedback and advice on our project.
  • The ability to be involved in interesting and innovative projects which shape the community positively.
  • The people and culture here. I was pleasantly surprised with how little "hand holding" there was and how comfortable the team was to let me do actual work, giving me my own scope and tasks to manage and with very little micromanagement. I believe that this has massively helped with my learning and development.
  • The best thing would be the opportunity to experience and learn on multiple very different large infrastructure projects.
  • The hours of site work can be quite taxing. However, this is quite common throughout the industry.
  • The nature of the construction industry means that it is hard to have flexibility in terms of working from home or working hours.
  • Big difference in expectation between office and site staff
  • The only bad thing about working for Acciona is finding it hard to stay focused in my role. With so many cool opportunities and projects and work going on it is easy to be distracted and interested in the goings on outside my team and outside my current project.
  • There haven't been too many downsides to the company.

Extremely satisfied. Each manager always provides excellent feedback when I ask for it and often allows me to do my job without micromanaging my work. They make great mentors and I have learnt an immense amount from them in regard to my role but also how to balance work and life.

The company's office space, location and facilities are great. We have a lot of amenities including showers and a kitchen area. The dress code is both people wearing office based clothing as well as orange hi-vis.

Recruitment

Recruitment
The hiring process of the company is great, as a graduate they provide you with the ability to perform an online interview with set questions before any face-to-face interactions, but they aim to find the best fit for you as a candidate. Many who join such as myself actually begin as undergraduates allowing us to get our foot in the door early and really get an idea of the role and environment, prior to beginning.

Work Hours
I have found the company to be extremely flexible with individual needs. Management is very understanding and allows a great workaround with WFH and also does not need to go beyond set hours. There are times when more hours are needed, however, I have found this balances out and am happy to put in extra effort as I have a great manager.
