Application Process & Interviews at Aurecon NZ

I initially was hired through an 'assessment centre day' for my intern position, which involved a group project while being assessed by 2 current employees and a speed interview. This has not been repeated since as far as I am aware. For my graduate role, I interviewed with 2 people from my internship team, and there was no other assessment.

I interned prior to my graduate role and found the process easy and smooth. I spoke with people in fields similar to my own and was able to see what sort of path my career could go down.

The process was long, and communications were a bit patchy. However, I was still hired, so no complaints

I went through 3 different interviews a week apart - everyone made me feel relaxed and welcome. It was a great process.

A bit unorganised.

I had an interview with the service group director and got an offer on the spot. It was a simple expression of interest, CV etc and then in person interview to see more so what my interpersonal skills were like.

Didn't interview for my position. Got an internship based of my CV and 10 questions I answered on an online form, 1 of which was a 2 min video of myself. Was offered a graduate position based off my internship

It was quite a while ago now but I remember it being a fairly long process similar to other companies in the assessment stages. The interview process was what separated aurecon from other companies however I and thought it was done very well

Why structural? why this company? what have you achieved at university since finishing your internship?

All the basic things nothing to note

What I had looked at in my studies, previous work, family life, nothing too technical more getting to know me.

I can't remember specifics but there were a good mix of technical, personal and casual questions. The interviewers also showed great interest in my university projects which I was able to elaborate on.

Showcase your willingness to learn as much as possible, and try to paint a picture of your progress, but equally make sure you are really confident in the basics, as these build up the rest of the skills/knowledge you need

There are so many roles at this company, I wasn't sure if there would be one for me and yet I have found my spot perfectly. I would say give it your best shot and don't be afraid to put yourself out there.

If you are a graduate, apply at the same time as the graduate intake.

I recommend having previous work experience to give you a competitive edge amongst your peers. It also makes you familiar with softwares etc.

Even if you don't think you are qualified enough, give it a go anyway even as an intern or a grad because there are so many options available.

Know the company well, projects etc. Be eager to learn.

If you have any fields or study or interests that might make you seem like a unique candidate include that. Especially if they line up with anything Aurecon is interested in

I would be prepared to share relevant university or personal work which you think would apply to the company as it shows initiative and enthusiasm in the industry. I would also reccommend asking the interviewers questions about the company and type of projects/work they do.
