I have always believed that graduate programs are the ideal kick start to a career. They offer you a taste of different areas of a business before you deep dive into a role.

Why did you decide to apply for the graduate program?

I have always believed that graduate programs are the ideal kick start to a career. They offer you a taste of different areas of a business before you deep dive into a role. As many graduates are fresh out of university when they start their careers, the business world is a completed unknown environment. Graduate Programs offer an experience like no other, where you get to experience the corporate world without the expectations that you are stuck in the same role forever. You are allowed to tip your toe into different pools until you find a pond that you know you want to deep dive into.

What business units have you worked in / are you currently working in and where have you completed your rotations?

I have worked in both the Business and Government and Community and Consumer unit.

In the B&G unit, I worked in the Micro Segment and Development Team as a Segment Coordinator. In the C&C team, I completed two rotations in the Consumer Marketing team.

What projects have you been a part of that you really enjoyed working on?

The most recent campaign I have enjoyed working on is Dear Australia. Dear Australia was launched in June 2020 as a direct response to COVID-19. It encourages all Australians to write a letter to the nation, ‘Dear Australia,’ to tell their individual story and experience of the COVID-19 pandemic. The letters will be held in the National Archives for 20 years and then be released for all to read. Almost like a time capsule of our time during COVID-19! My role was to read through a portion of the letters (we received thousands!!) to ensure they were aligned to the spirit of the campaign. I felt very lucky to be part of this unique experience.

What do you like about working at Australia Post?

The people are the most amazing part of working at Australia Post. I believe I am incredibly lucky to be part of a team and an organisation that put their people first. No matter if its people directly in your team or those you meet for the first time, it is very clear that everyone looks out for each other. It’s the people who create an incredible culture at Australia Post, which I believe is a direct reflection and link as to why so many of our employees never leave.

What skills have you developed through the graduate program?

A major skill I have developed through the graduate program is stakeholder management. At Australia Post, there are multiple people involved in projects, with many areas of the business overlapping. Therefore, it has been incredibly important to build my stakeholder management skills. In addition to this, my organisation, communication and time management skills have also developed over time.
