The ABS are seeking Student Data Scientists to work with data under the supervision of experienced team members – to understand large datasets, link datasets together, and create datasets that enable insights. This work fits into the growing field of Data Science.

Studies in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Science and Engineering all have relevance to this role, but we are open to candidates from a range of backgrounds.
There is some coding (Python), but my day to day responsibilities are mostly about designing processes and systems around data. There is also quite a bit of manual work that is not so enjoyable (usually in Excel or SAS)
I work in an agile team completing programming and devops tasks, with the occasional word or PowerPoint document thrown in.
Day to day, I get to work on super interesting projects, data and tasks and with supportive and friendly people.
