The Opportunity

Are you seeking a career within an intelligence agency where you can contribute and make a difference to the security of Australia? ASIO is seeking applications from experienced and passionate Procurement Officers to fill positions at the AE5 and AE6 levels. Procurement Officers employ a range of skills, including:

  • Strategic thinking

These skills ensure that the funds expended on behalf of ASIO are managed in accordance with Commonwealth legislation and organizational policies.

A merit pool may be created to fill future vacancies that have the same or similar requirements as this position. This merit pool will be valid for up to 18 months.

Role Responsibilities

As a Procurement Officer in ASIO, you will:

  • Provide advice on procurement and contract management matters across the organization.
  • Conduct and support procurements, using best practices to make decisions on procurement and contract-related activities that are fundamental to the agency's day-to-day operations.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of written materials, including reports, contracts, and procurement documentation.
  • Help deliver procurement and contract management training to ASIO staff to build capability and capacity, including the preparation of policies, guides, templates, and procedures.
  • Assist with the management and administration of procurement and contract management tools, processes, forms, templates, and policies.
  • Promote and implement ASIO values and a business partnering culture.
  • Undertake other duties as directed.

What You Will Bring

  • Capability to develop and maintain professional relationships
  • Aptitude for procurement or contract management tasks and the ability to understand and implement procurement regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Adaptability to change and ability to learn quickly in a new environment
  • Working knowledge of the PGPA Act 2013 and Commonwealth Procurement Rules, or the ability to gain this knowledge quickly
  • A Certificate IV in Procurement and Contracting or equivalent, either upon commencement or shortly thereafter

Location

These positions are located in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. Applicants must be willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is provided to successful candidates where ASIO requires relocation.

Employment Conditions

Employment is under the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation Act 1979. Conditions of service are similar to those applying in the Australian Public Service. We recognize entitlements accrued under the Public Service Act 1999 and provide for the continuation of superannuation under the Commonwealth schemes. Salary packaging arrangements are also available.

  • I enjoy the people I work with, and the friends that I have made in the office. Moving across the country to work can be quite hard but it's definitely made easier by the people you work with.
