About the role
Small Bank. Big brands. Greater Opportunities. Here at BOQ Group, we are a multi-brand organisation, passionate about providing opportunities for you to develop your career as we continuously adapt and deliver in a transformational and collaborative environment with a strong focus on community.
We are currently engaged in an exciting business-wide digital transformation with the intention of making BOQ Group the digital bank of the future, with a personal touch! This includes technology-stack uplifts across the business in core banking, payments, and our digital platforms involving major cloud projects. With recent announcements of a major partnership with Microsoft (Azure) coming on board this will not only help develop our technology infrastructure but our people too, and we need YOU to be part of it!
As a summer intern within BOQ Group, you will be exposed to different technologies, processes, and functionalities. You will see firsthand, the intricate workings of how the banking world operates within Australia, across a multitude of divisions that operate within a bankโs head office. We are seeking applications from interns who are looking at areas that are not your typical bank โ Group People and Culture (thatโs our fabulous HR / Payroll / ER / Recruitment space) and across our creative landscape such as Marketing, Communications, and Digital Content. We have it all, and we have dedicated leaders keen to pass on their knowledge, so if this sounds like what you want to get amongst for 12 weeks over the summer, then youโre in the right place!
We promise itโs going to be fun, challenging, and rewarding. And besides, you might even get yourself a permanent opportunity with us at the end of it!
Our BOQ Group Internship Program offers placements across all our brands, and divisions across Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne. Which exciting areas of opportunity will you apply for?! Find out more about our available internship business divisions here:

I support anyone in my team who needs extra help. This changes what I work on every day. During my working week (2 days part-time) I commit 3 hours to calling to survey customers about a specific product. In other work, I am currently documenting the process that a team member has to take to be able to survey based on the different brand and intended customer audience, it's very interesting and I'm getting a wider knowledge of the business from it
I am involved in daily input processes that is required by other teams so that they can complete their work. It can be fairly repetitive but there is opportunities to work on a variety of work and projects.
I enjoy the role I am in. At times it can be repetitive, but that is the reality in a entry level role. The team provides a lot of support and help with any challenges I face.

Banking & Financial Services
BOQ Group's ambition is to be known as the bold challenger bank, owning ME Bank & Virgin Money Australia our diverse & inclusive culture sets us apart
Flexibility to WFH whenever I want (please omit this as it will not apply to all interns). People here are great. Company understands that you are a Junior/Intern and wants you to learn/ doesn't expect you to perform as well as established staff. Staff home loan rates.
Great mentorship during the internship program. Felt as though the tasks and expectations were very well calibrated for a first time internship.
Team has been absolutely great, extremely welcoming and willing to mentor and guide me throughout the tasks I'm assigned should I have any issues. Overall a very friendly team, where I feel comfortable enough to reach out to managers/senior managers if I find the need to.
Culture that is welcoming and promotes personal career development
The culture is very supportive, welcoming and inclusive. I know I can always ask for help when I need it. My work changes a lot from week to week - I enjoy the variety.
When trying to increase capacity for work, the process can be timely.
The only downside would be the team being split across Australia so there are not as many in the office I'm in, but not really a concern for me personally.
Inability to rotate teams as an intern and experiment
Initially, there was a lot of change happening, which made it hard as a first corporate role. It took a while to adjust to everything as things would change so often. I think that was bad timing.
Technology isn't as developed as other companies
