Your career
We are currently seeking students who are interested in joining our Business Services and Audit teams. At BDO, we understand the importance of balancing work and study, which is why our Undergraduate program is designed with flexibility in mind, offering students the opportunity to work while they complete their studies.
As an Undergraduate in Business Services, your career development journey will start here:
- Within our Business Accounting (Bookkeeping) team helping you to build a strong foundation for career progression within Business Services.
- Gain a solid understanding in payroll, superannuation, GST, data entry, financial reporting and ATO deadlines.
- Receive software exposure, training and certification in systems such as MYOB and Xero.
- Upon completion of your university degree, you will transition into a Graduate role where your career will then progress to developing taxation and business advisory expertise. These skills will be developed through on the job training within our supportive Business Services team environment as well as formal structured learning support.
As an Undergraduate in Audit, you will:
- Get involved in real client work from the beginning of your career, supported by our experienced team every step of the way.
- Spend most of your time at the client’s premises building an understanding of the client’s business.
Identify potential risks and analyse information to provide the client and their stakeholders a level of assurance on the financial statements.
About You
We are seeking Undergraduates who are currently studying a relevant qualification such as a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) or a Bachelor of Commerce. Eligible for CA/CPA postgraduate study, you will bring:
- Confidence when communicating and demonstrated strong interpersonal skills
- A dynamic and collaborative approach to teamwork
- High levels of attention to detail
- Professionalism, an organised and proactive style and an eagerness to learn
- Strong IT skills as well as willing and able to learn new technologies.

I am given a fair amount of responsibility, and plenty of support to learn.
Checking emails, liaising with clients to receive information on their R&D activities, writing/drafting activities according to AusIndustry guidelines/ITAA legislation. Calculating financial incentives and meeting with clients.
Admin tasks including note taking, setting up meeting and powerpoint/word templates, writing and research tasks

Pros
The culture in and out of the office is great.
My colleagues are always willing to get out of their way to help me.
Great opportunity to learn. People are nice and not getting annoyed when I ask questions.
Never any pressure to stay late.
The training is great, I have learned a lot in my time here.
Cons
Pay is relatively low, however this is industry-wide.
The graduate program doesn't rotate us through all the service lines.
Some managers are great and give constructive feedback. Others do not provide you with proper instructions.
Dishwashers are small... toilets are not flushed... desk are most of the time dirty.
Could include more women, however this is the industry.
