As an Undergraduate Consultant in our CFO Advisory team, you’ll build your technical accounting and advisory skills, whilst you complete your studies. 

BDO is one of the world’s leading audit, accounting, advisory and consulting firms. We provide a range of services to clients of all sizes and industries across Australia.   
   
Our CFO Advisory team provide support to public and private organisations, working closely with boards, committees, CEOs and CFOs in the establishment, delivery or transformation of their internal finance function. 

The CFO Advisory team collaborates with a range of other services within BDO including our IFRS and Corporate Reporting, Consulting, Risk Advisory and Projects and Infrastructure teams. This gives you opportunities to be involved in a variety of work, including exciting transformation projects where you could be helping to set up a new finance function from scratch, or implementing suggested improvements to processes or systems.

What you’ll do:  

As a CFO Advisory Undergraduate, you can expect to:  

  • Assist with finance function advisory services and transformation projects incl. process improvements, finance/ERP system selection & enhancement, finance team structure reviews, and finance governance 
  • Prepare and/or develop financial, management and project reports
  • From time to time, acting in an insourced role as part of a client's team.

What you’ll offer:

  • You will be studying towards an Accounting, Business or Commerce (Accounting major), or relevant undergraduate or postgraduate CA/CPA eligible degree.

Pros

  • The culture in and out of the office is great.

  • My colleagues are always willing to get out of their way to help me.

  • Great opportunity to learn. People are nice and not getting annoyed when I ask questions.

  • Never any pressure to stay late.

  • The training is great, I have learned a lot in my time here.

Cons

    • Pay is relatively low, however this is industry-wide.

    • The graduate program doesn't rotate us through all the service lines.

    • Some managers are great and give constructive feedback. Others do not provide you with proper instructions.

    • Dishwashers are small... toilets are not flushed... desk are most of the time dirty.

    • Could include more women, however this is the industry.
