9.0 rating for Culture, based on 74 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
Excellent, good structure, clear chain of command, lovely people.

Plenty of social events in and outside of work hours. Have made strong connections with other long standing 'juniors' in the team and have met up outside of work.

There could be more social activities during work with my team and others, but overall a good culture and a team work environment where I feel comfortable talking and working with everyone even as a grad

The culture in and out of the office is great.

Very much a team and socialise with people from other departments

Everybody socialises during and after work together, there is no sense of working hierarchy when colleagues engage socially. The company actively encourages staff socialising through a variety of methods such as Friday night drinks, BFUN social club etc.

I really enjoyed. we have monthly event after work and also some fun activity as well. Everything is well-structured and always have someone to help you with anything you unsure.

I do not care about after work events that much. What is more important is how flexible we are during working hours. 2 days working from home, I can take break anytime I want, and as long as I get the things done, it is all good. When I report it to manager or partner if I can see the workload is too much or say that some people are not being really helpful, they are willing to change it.

HR did an amazing job at choosing people to work at BDO as we are all likeminded people. I have never felt out of place.

In audit particularly, it is extremely structure and there is a clear hierachy, however, this is made clear so it can be easy to identify who is above you and who to approach first in situations. The social side of BDO is the best of any company I have worked with. Lunch time is like a cafeteria and everyone sits and eats together. There are also many optional out of hours social events which are also a lot of fun and good to meet other people you work with.

BDO has really good business culture. It culture includes ONE, BOLD, HUMAN, STRIVE and HEART, which values people's wellbeing and personal development. Based on my past half-year experience, I found that people here are very approachable and helpful.

Partners are very approachable, and seniors are generally very happy to chat with and offer assistance. Early careers events are held once a quarter. People are friendly!
Graduate, Melbourne - 23 Oct 2023
At BDO everyone is easily accessible and open to chat regardless of organisation structure and hierarchy which I believe makes BDO stand out and a more valuable place to work. With such a friendly and open team it becomes easier and more encouraging to socialise and work well with those around you.

The best thing about my company is the culture, not only is it very diverse but the partners and managers are approachable. I can always go to them and ask questions. They are always willing to help no matter how busy they are. I have made so many friends from the office and sometimes we spend our weekends together. Teamwork is very important and we work cooperatively in order to come up with good ideas and be more productive with our work

All employees are treated the same, everyone sees the importance in a collaborative environment hence there is a strong emphasis on company culture

Very friendly environment.

Everyone in the office is pretty down-to-earth, genuine and easy-going. No pressuring or negative situation encountered so far.
Graduate, Adelaide - 16 Oct 2023
Not a lot of after hours team building is done with the team currently. The partners and managers are not seen as a part of the working force of the team, more as overseers and demand makers. The consultants are the only ones to develop a team culture that fits into the companies culture.

Its a flat organisation structure, management is approachable and easy to get along with. There is respect for personal time and work life balance.
Graduate, Melbourne - 16 Oct 2023
I love the people I work with but not enough effort is made from people in the corporate tax team to really nurture the culture. People just aren't in the office enough.
