The Byrnecut Group
With nearly 6,000 employees, the Byrnecut Group is a full-service underground mining contractor, providing services to major mine owners throughout Australia and Internationally. We operate a multi-million dollar fleet of specialised underground mining equipment across multiple continents and conditions.
We are looking for the next generation of Mining Engineers to join our talented and diverse team at Byrnecut.
About the Program:
Our comprehensive 24-month Graduate Mining Engineer Program offers newly qualified engineers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in key areas of the mining cycle. Graduates will rotate through essential underground operational roles, including Truck Operator, Service Crew, Charge-up, Bogger Operator, and Driller, before advancing to Project Engineer training.
You’ll apply your academic knowledge in a dynamic underground mining environment at one of our Western Australian mine sites, gaining invaluable experience that will set the stage for your future career.
At Byrnecut, our success is driven by our people. We seek graduates who align with our core values of People, Innovation, Safety, and Results. In return, we offer world-class training, ongoing support, and access to a vast array of resources and networks to help you build a successful, long-term career with us.
Upon completion of the program, you’ll have the opportunity to advance along either the operational career path, working towards your Underground Shift Supervisor and First Class Mine Manager certifications, or pursue a technical career by transferring to Mining Plus (a Byrnecut Group entity), where you’ll receive training in technical engineering services such as drill and blast, mine design, planning, and scheduling.

A CUT ABOVE™ in contract mining.
Good people and working conditions, everyone is happy to help and answer any questions. Management structure is well balanced and often pushed to reach higher potentials.
The people. I have built great relationships with all the people I have worked with in my role. I sincerely believe the upper management care for all the employees at my site.
They have done what they said they would do in terms of hiring, salary, and development.
The clear goals and pathways laid out for me.
My company encourages everyone to participate and contribute any ideas that can improve the performance at work.
Egos of some people. Communication can sometimes be lacking.
More support in regard to defining the project engineer's role. The engineering workshop hosted earlier this year was great, something I wish I could experience after starting role.
Unnecessary waiting time to move up the working position.
Some pretty long days
I have no complaints about my experience in my current role.
