The Company

FDM is a global FTSE 250 employer headquartered in the UK, we have centres across APAC, Europe and North America. We recruit and train graduates, ex-forces personnel and returners to work, transforming them into IT and business professionals before deploying them across our client base. We work in partnership with our clients to fill their specialty skills gaps, building a diverse pipeline of talent for the future. FDM has shown exponential growth throughout the years, firmly establishing itself as an award-winning employer.

In the APAC region, FDM was set up over 10 years ago. We are looking to significantly expand the team over the next 6-12 months to deliver on increased demand. In Australia, we will be hiring at least 300 graduates for FDM's Graduate Program in the next 12 months and need the best talent to join us on this journey of growth!

Your role

Managing the end-to-end recruitment process

You will be the first point of contact for a candidate's journey with FDM, your role will have a core responsibility to:

  • Review and assess incoming applications and arrange pre-screen calls with candidates to understand their motivation for applying to our Graduate Program
  • Assess the candidate's suitability for the program they have applied for
  • Take the candidate through the recruitment process by sending online tests, arranging virtual assessment centres and preparing candidates for the recruitment process with FDM
  • Share FDM's business model with candidates, answering questions the candidate might have and being as informative as possible at all times

Candidate attraction

  • Constantly developing your own candidate pipeline to ensure we are hiring a diverse group of exceptional talent
  • Using LinkedIn to proactively reach out to new graduates, sharing how they can start a career in technology without a technical degree background
  • Building strong relationships with your candidates to increase referrals

Engagement Events

  • Work closely with FDMโ€™s University Partnerships Manager to promote our Graduate Program to students and graduates through tailored, exciting virtual events
  • Attend virtual and/or in-person careers fairs to connect with students about their career options and how FDM can be part of that journey
  • Arrange icebreaker events with candidates who are joining FDMโ€™s Graduate Program to engage and develop strong relationships with incoming cohorts to FDM

Relationship management

  • Work in partnership with your immediate team to ensure we are working towards hiring full cohorts of graduates onto every Graduate Program we are running
  • Develop key internal relationships with HR, Marketing, Sales and the Training Academy
  • Manage your candidates with respect and provide an exceptional candidate experience through strong relationship building
  • Liaise with FDMโ€™s internal Sales team to understand clientโ€™s requirements so you can effectively relay FDMโ€™s potential career paths to candidates
  • Update internal stakeholders on how the recruitment pipeline is looking and communicating honestly and openly about any challenges within the graduate market

I am in a role a bit different to the role I actually want to be in, but I have time, support and training to help me move into that role eventually. My role is enjoyable and the day-to-day responsibilities are in line with what I'd expect from the role.

Pros and cons of working at FDM Group Australia

Pros

  • My current managers are fantastic and are always supportive, they provide support in terms of my career growth and allow me to challenge myself.

  • Great environment, everyone is equal, always down for a laugh. Plenty of office events and after work drinks, a very inclusive environment

  • There is a very good support system, in a couple of di๏ฌ€erent ways. For one, you have a cohort of people that are on the same journey while working in similar roles and similar places. They also have support sta๏ฌ€ around that are there to help for any issue.

  • The support and training you get from FDM

  • Great training program, great trainers.

Cons

    • Always meeting new consultants, but going to different clients, it is hard to keep relationships with consultants you meet initially.

    • Repetitive work

    • As a large multi-national there are some annoying processes in place (i.e. things like applying for leave and submitting timesheets)

    • I'd say salary especially as the in๏ฌ‚ation is pretty high

    • Throughout COVID - not having the ability to catch up with the fellow consultants and peers
