Diversity at GSK

8.6
8.6 rating for Diversity, based on 36 reviews
Please provide further information on diversity with respect to women, ethnic minorities and LGBT. Please comment on issues such as recruitment, retention, promotion, child care, maternity leave, etc.
I believe GSK is making great steps to be inclusive and diverse. I am aware that there has recently been policy change regarding parental leave. I am also aware that we run many awareness sessions regarding important diversity topics such as gender, aboriginal communities, disability etc. There is still room for growth of course, but GSK is definitely a diverse workplace and continuing to grow in this space.

Balance of employees being male/female is very 50/50. Recruitment and child care seem to be updated too.

GSK have a program launched called spectrum to support the LGBT community along with their straight allies. They also have a very good maternity leave policy

I was lucky enough to lead this initiative and we are doing so much in so many different areas including gender equality, cultural diversity, Aboriginal and Torres straight islander equality and in particular LGBTQI+ equality

GSK is a very diverse work place as is is a global organisation. This means that they value the perspectives of different cultures and also do not discriminate based on gender, age, or parental leavers.

All employees are able to apply for Alternative Work Arrangements to accommodate their personal situation. I haven't seen data on promotion and pay and as such cannot comment in that regard.

Most demographics are represented. Maternity leave is flexible and many people return to their previous jobs or elect to work part-time initially.

GSK is very diverse and encourages acceptance of all employees. For example pride parades advertisements are circulated.

Employees in this workplace are all kinds of backgrounds and nationalities which is great to see, also of various ages. Women are treated as equally to men which is great and have equal decision making power.

Diverse range of people. Retention is high and the company does try to cater for everyone.
Intern, Abbotsford - 01 Feb 2016
There is not much to say on this, especially because this is a global company, there are people from all different ethnic and religious backgrounds as well as from different sexual orientations and genders. I have never seen any hint of bias in any way, shape of form towards anyone in my time here.

What does your company do to attract applicants from less privileged backgrounds?
Special programs
Intern, Abbotsford - 12 Dec 2022
I am not sure how the company 'attracts applicants' but I know that through the internship and graduate researcher programs they advertise to people of different socio-economic backgrounds through universities.

As long as you have the right qualifications for the job or can show that you are capable of fulfilling a role, you have just as good a chance as anyone else.
Intern, Melbourne - 01 Feb 2016
Was a previous focus in terms of providing internships to indigenous and lower socio-economic applicants but has waned with time.
