Leidos Airborne Solutions provides aerial surveillance services under contract to the Australian Border Force as the largest civil maritime surveillance operation of its kind in the world.

We currently have an opportunity available for a graduate in our Design Team based in Adelaide Australia. We are looking for a dynamic individual with the desire to be involved in something truly unique. 

What do we need?

A Graduate Design Engineer, with at least a basic knowledge of Aircraft Structures, to become proficient in producing repair and modification designs and documentation for regulatory approval.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Drafting of modifications and repairs for aircraft.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to the workshop and maintenance teams.
  • Work in consultation with other members of the design team to provide optimal solutions.
  • Perform various other duties as required.

Educational/Vocational Qualifications 

  • An Engineering Degree (Bachelor's or higher) in a relevant discipline. (Aviation, Aerospace, Mech, etc.) (essential)

Experience 

  • Graduate or less than 1 year of experience working in an aircraft maintenance environment in a design capacity or similar role.
  • Experience in writing engineering instructions/professional documents. (preferred)

Knowledge 

  • An understanding of the major aircraft parts and their functions (fuselage, wings, ailerons, spoilers, etc.)
  • Familiarity with CAD systems (Solidworks, AutoCAD)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

Personal Skills / Abilities 

  • Good communication skills; both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet agreed deadlines with multiple concurrent projects.
  • A desire to learn and improve.
