My current rotation allows me to work with the internal hire of assets, internal rent and depreciation. All of which are important areas to develop knowledge in for an Accountant.

I have extremely enjoyed working day to day in heavy lift producing lift studies and working with other engineers. It brings a good challenge that tests me and is satisfying to complete.

Pros and cons of working at Monadelphous

Pros

  • The opportunities for different work environments, working in the office tendering to being on various sites around Australia working in processing mines to Iron Ore mines.

  • Across the board the culture of the workplace is outstanding, evidently passed down through management. It is extremely easy to raise questions with anyone in the company. There is support across all areas of the business, whether it commercial, technical, or personal.

  • I really enjoy the level of responsibility we are given on the projects we work on and there is always people to provide guidance.

  • The continuous workplace support and mentoring from experienced personnel.

  • They are flexible with work life balance requirements.

Cons

    • Due to the size of the company, free parking is minimal, and street parking nearby tends to fill early in the morning. Public transport is recommended.

    • Communication on placements.

    • Long hours and little benefits for white collar workers.

    • It’s a West coast-based company, so sometimes you feel a bit left out on the east coast. But as many of the graduates are in the middle of nowhere anyway, they have to accommodate for people in remote areas, so you never feel left out in terms of training, experience, etc.

    • Working longer hours on site.
