Ramsay's unique two-year program is designed to empower and support your development as you transition into the mental health nursing field. During the program you will:
- First Year: Receive comprehensive support to ensure a smooth transition into the professional world. - Second Year: Take ownership of your role while simultaneously exploring diverse professional development paths. Tailor your journey with options like on-the-job skill enhancement, scholarships for continuing education, postgraduate studies, or the Enrolled to Registered Nurse transition program.
Rotations Available
As a Mental Health Graduate Nurse at Ramsay Mental Health Clinic, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals on their path to recovery. Our program offers the opportunity to rotate across various mental health specialties, allowing you to explore and identify areas you may wish to specialize in. You will be fully supported throughout your journey, gaining invaluable experience in areas such as depression, anxiety, substance misuse, and addiction. This comprehensive exposure will help you build a strong foundation for a rewarding career.
The ideal candidates will:
- Be passionate about providing high-quality care to patients and their families.
- On track to completing or have completed a Diploma or bachelor’s degree in nursing or Midwifery within the past 18 months.
- Be eligible for AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse, Registered Nurse, or Registered Midwife.
- Hold full Australian work rights.
- Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) prior to your commencement.

Pros
The support that has been given since I started. I have had the opportunity to work in different business areas and I feel that sometimes my opinion is valued.
A good blend of autonomy and support throughout the graduate program.
The educational growth pathways eg Grad certs available through Ramsay. Many programs are available if you want to change roles.
Flexibility with rostering and shifts, being able to maintain a work life balance. Constantly learning and developing skills/knowledge.
The amazing support I have had from day 1 from my colleagues, the graduate coordinators and the management teams in each area which has contributed to my professional growth as a nurse.
Cons
Paper based notes.
Stress and feeling overwhelmed sometimes.
When it gets busy and there doesn't seem to be enough staff.
Nurse to patient ratios.
Heavy workloads
