The grad program accelerates you into the REA Group ecosystem, and I think the managers here look to set you up for success and strategically place you in certain teams in the program and afterwards to ensure you can progress as much as possible.

They support a wide range of organisations as well as providing employees leave to volunteer with organisations of their choice.

Great culture. Super inclusive and dynamic. There are a lot of interest groups and guilds, as well as social and team bonding activities. I think it is a good environment for collaborating and learning from experienced software engineers.

I think REA is doing better than most in this space, but at the same time, can always do better.

My role is a mixture of front and back-end web development. Day-to-day I implement new features and maintain existing ones on REAs internal platforms and products, which can include data pipelines, design systems, or customer facing products like realestate.com.au. Much of the work is done in pairs or with substantial collaboration in technical decision-making. Some teams feature close collaboration between design and development, while in others the processes remain distinct and the teams are less cross-functional. Degrees of autonomy fluctuate team-by-team, both in terms of development at the individual level and degree of control the team as a whole has over the direction of the products/services they're building.

Very satisfied with the way REA sets up Rotation Leads and Mentors throughout the design program. Weekly one on one sessions, constant feedback and check ins and managers even publicly call out good work from a grad in larger meetings and forums for better exposure around the company. Lots of assessment (in a good way) around where to focus in terms of development.

Incredible space. Worth coming for a tour. Dress code is literally what ever you are comfortable in. There is no judgement nor expectations (however, it's probably best not to be covered in mud etc). I wear casual pants and sandals to work and feel very comfortable that no one is expecting anything more than that. It's up to you.

The process involved an initial application - answering questions and submitting a resume. This was followed by a set of testing, then an additional questionnaire incorporating video responses. A final round was held at the offices in Richmond, involving a technical interview, cultural-fit interview and group exercise to assess teamwork.

REA Group is competitive with their prices, they do their research and make sure their employees are getting paid what they deserve. We also have a bonus scheme based on individual and company performance.

Buckets of trainings to take part in. I've attended in-house Android, iOS, and Scala trainings run by senior developers from the company. In addition, interest groups around UI, functional programming, etc run frequent sessions.

REA Group is super flexible. Especially with everything going on at the moment. If you'd like to work 8-4 so you've got more time in the afternoon, or start a bit later, no stress. Need to take an hour out of your day for an appointment, totally fine, just make the hour back later.

We have annual sustainability reports and this year we have a new Carbon Change policy to reduce and offset our carbon emissions.
