The role

We are looking to recruit a Graduate Environmental Scientist / Engineer to join our Brisbane Contaminated Land Management team.

Located in Fortitude Valley, we are conveniently located within a few minutes' walk to the train station and are surrounded by cafes and restaurants in the bustling King Street precinct.

Our Geosciences–Contaminated Land Management team is a team of engineers and scientists who specialise in contaminated land, acid sulphate soil, water and wastewater management.

Ideally, we are seeking graduates that have completed their studies by the end of 2022 and can be available for full-time, permanent work in January or February 2023.

You will be Making a Difference by –

  • Participating in the delivery of projects ranging from contaminated land, acid sulphate soil, water and wastewater management
  • Assisting in undertaking field and laboratory work such as sampling and testing of soils, groundwater and surface water
  • Assisting in data analysis and interpretive report preparation
  • Developing practical and commercial solutions to problems
  • Undertaking work-related training and self-development for career advancement
  • Collaborating with project staff and working with a team of technical specialists in their field

Qualifications

About you

To be successful you will display the –

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science / Engineering. Chemistry or Geology graduates are also welcome
  • A keen interest in earth sciences (soil and water) and interest in basic level environmental chemistry (this is not a role suited for those pursuing a career in ecology/flora/fauna)
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office (MS Word & MS Excel)
  • Strong report-writing skills
  • Confident approach to problem-solving
  • Results-driven and pragmatic. Able to deliver simple solutions under time and budget constraints
  • The ability to work within a team environment through well-developed interpersonal skills
  • A positive and proactive attitude
  • The ability to get involved and learn from others, whilst also contributing to a vibrant team

Physical Requirements

  • The position includes both office and field work and you must be physically able to stand and work in the field including in remote areas on occasion. A driver's licence is essential
