If you are studying Fire, Structural, Mechanical or Mechatronics and have a passion for Fire, this is the perfect opportunity to work across an exciting and broad range of projects in our Buildings team in Brisbane! 

What we provide 

  • 10-week (400 hours) internship between November and February (timing may vary depending on the team) with a structured internship program
  • Opportunity to continue to work with Stantec casually after your initial internship, with the potential to obtain a 2026 graduate position!

What does a Fire Engineering intern do in our Buildings team? 

  • Supporting the projects through assisting with planning, technical solutions, coordination, and report writing
  • Using your project management skills
  • Working with a team of talented professionals on a variety of multidisciplinary projects
  • Develop your capabilities & technical skills
  • Physics, mathematics, computer modelling are skills you would develop
  • Exposure to the use of different building materials, structures and buildings, fire systems, human behaviour and safety, and the prevention, detection, and suppression of fire
  • Assist Senior and Project Engineers in completing projects in terms of program, profitability, technical risk management, and overall Client satisfaction
  • Assess the threat of fires and determine how to improve structures to ensure building occupants can occupy and evacuate the building safely

What do you need? 

  • You will be working towards an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in Fire, Mechanical, Structural, or Mechatronics.
  • You will ideally be in your penultimate year of study
