Most managers are readily available, and all are very willing to help us learn. They are all patient and want to help us improve in all that we do, they will regularly meet up with us to check how things are going and if we are happy with the projects they have us working on. I have only just been moved into the correct team for my work so I am yet to have formal feedback from my current manager and my previous manager was in a different team so did not work with me closely so could not provide very much.

Direct managers are wonderful and they are the reason the score is relatively high. However, upper management is trash
Graduate, Auckland - 05 Sep 2024

Frequent feedback.
Give praise.
Graduate, Brisbane - 05 Sep 2024
My direct manager is a great mentor for me and there are opportunities (fortnightly) to seek feedback from them at this time.
Graduate, Adelaide - 07 Aug 2024
My team manager makes time for the team and leads us well. I have received very beneficial feedback twice so far that has helped me improve my performance at work. The managers at Arup are easily contactable through teams or email if they are unavailable.
Graduate, Brisbane - 23 Jul 2024
My manager shows genuine care for me. I have not experienced any power imbalance or unhealthy power dynamic with other seniors in the company.
Graduate, Brisbane - 22 Jul 2024
My manager is accessible but rarely in contact with me. We have recently changed from fortnightly check ins to monthly which is fine with me but because we work in different offices the majority of the time and have no project work together, I rarely interact with them. That was not something I expected to happen. More confusingly, one of the other grads who is not in their team works very closely with my manager. I see other teams in the office catching up much more frequently than my team and can sometimes feel jealous at the apparent closeness of those teams. I am very happy with the actions and support of my manager when I choose to reach out.
Graduate, Adelaide - 17 Jul 2024
Very good. They are busy people but take the time to speak to each one of us individually
Graduate, Melbourne - 17 Jul 2024
Managers are extremely accessible, very approachable, who are inviting to understand both your social/life situation as well as your needs for career progression and satisfaction of work. They are supportive, correctly balancing between direct guidance and free-learning to allow you to develop your skills without being spoon-fed.
Graduate, Brisbane - 15 Jul 2024
Very accessible, exceptionally good mentors and internal communication is easy. Leaders take you out for coffees and make sure you are enjoying your time as a grad as they want to retain employees for the long run
Graduate, Perth - 31 Oct 2023
Managers are very accessible, and very motivated to provide advice and guidance. They are very generous with communication, mostly informal, face to face conversations and teams messages, and I always get both useful and positive feedback on work that i submit for review.
Graduate, Melbourne - 30 Oct 2023
Yes. The only issue is they sometimes too busy to train you.
Graduate, Brisbane - 16 Dec 2022
Great managers that provide support and guidance as well as feedback and praise. They lead by example and care about the wellbeing of the team members.
Graduate, Adelaide - 16 Dec 2022
In my experience in a smaller team, my managers/senior members interact very well with the rest of the team and make inspiring mentors. Communication is clear and praise and recognition is provided which makes a huge difference.
Midlevel, Sydney - 13 Dec 2022
Managers are usually very accessible and have a strong investment in developing individuals within their teams. Sometimes you may need to seek feedback proactively, particularly with those you are working with, as this does not always get relayed back to your manager to pass on to you.
Graduate, Melbourne - 12 Dec 2022
All managers are accessible and approachable. Due to the linear hierarchy you view them again first as friends before managers.
Graduate, Melbourne - 12 Dec 2022
My manager has been fantastic and a great example of effective leadership. They are very accessible, and I feel comfortable being myself and open with them. They care about your wellbeing and support your needs - whether it is for work, personal or lifestyle. Performance feedback through appraisals is very thorough and you will often be praised or recognised for outstanding work.
