Job Satisfaction at Shell

Office-based engineering support to the local offshore asset. In my current role, my day-to-day responsibilities are typically interfacing with vendors to provide engineering solutions to production problems. An example is when equipment fails, you will need to investigate what you suspect caused the failure, propose a solution and then discuss with local vendors how you will be able to practically achieve this solution.

Currently on my first graduate rotation as shutdown inspection engineer. Work has focussed mainly on the midstream turnaround scheduled for 2025. Other than that, it has involved graduate development plan, HR manual reading and workday training.

I am a trading analyst in my first rotation on long term analytics. My day to day responsibilities include working for both the short term and long term traders. I also spend a lot of time completing allowing my company to value large assets for long term deals.

I get to work on a variety of projects so that I can tick off my graduate program competencies. It has been really fun getting to learn about all of the activities going on in the business.

My job on a daily basis is to ensure that production of gas, LPG or whatever other products we are making runs smoothly and safely. We need to meet all our customer needs, at a high quality.

It varies on the task that I am doing. While I do learn a lot on some days, some days are pretty 'normal'.

As a grad you are given a lot of unique tough jobs as well as some typical 'pen-pushing' roles

Even as a graduate it is very easy to take on business critical roles. If you're up for the challenge then Shell is a good place to be. In two years I've worked on my own dynamic reservoir study for a gas field, contributed towards technical readiness for a final investment decision, learned about booking reserves and resources in one of the world's most complicated LNG assets and now I'm working as part the concept selection team for a key asset to the Australian/global integrated gas portfolio.

Day to day doesn't light my heart on fire but it has its moments and I can see it will lead to a fulfilling career

I am responsible for assisting Commercial Managers in the execution of their projects.

Mixture of stimulating/challenging tasks with mundane administrative tasks

Process engineering support for a flagship project in the execution phase.

Lots of training, learning, working on site, getting hands on experience
