Shell is a global company so there are progression and career opportunities abound both in Australia and globally.

Safety is prioritised extremely highly

The office culture is very good and the graduate cohort is extremely close. The cohort participates in both during work and after work functions organised by the company and sometimes spontaneously organised by the group.

Various internal organisations which support and promote diversity. Given this is a global organisation with great internal training and opportunities, employees are retained and shuffled around the assets internationally to build teams of diverse backgrounds.

Office-based engineering support to the local offshore asset. In my current role, my day-to-day responsibilities are typically interfacing with vendors to provide engineering solutions to production problems. An example is when equipment fails, you will need to investigate what you suspect caused the failure, propose a solution and then discuss with local vendors how you will be able to practically achieve this solution.

The most accessible of any company I've worked for, very personable and make time to interact with young professionals (such as graduates).

Dress code seems to be casual corporate. I like to wear the polos on days I don't feel like coming up with an outfit. The office space is great - facilities are great as is the central location in the city. I like that the female bathrooms offers period products. I think this is an important and effective way of showing respect to female employees and should be upheld.

It was rigorous but I feel accomplished knowing I made it through the process successfully. The process itself was great - I liked the case study. I also respected the time HR took to provide me with constructive feedback.

Much higher pay than I had hoped/expected, with performance bonuses to sweeten the deal. Relocation support, paid graduate social events (tickets, dinners, sundowners).

I like that training involves an opportunity to travel. Training seems to be well structured. Lots of skills have been picked up - soft skills include stakeholder engagement, communication, time management, and also technical skills relating to corrosion, inspections and asset integrity.

I usually work from home 1 day per week, however, this is flexible. I understand the importance of face-to-face connection, however, I also don't feel pressured to come into the office if I need to be at home for whatever reason.

I think Shell, like many other oil and gas companies, are in the process of transitioning.
